Insurance companies and employers like to put fear in injured workers. There are urban legends about getting terminated if you file or report a work injury. That is a major reason to have a family of attorneys on your side. They don't dare break the law.
Chapter 287.780 RSMo. provides “No employer or agent shall discharge or in any way discriminate against any employee for exercising any of his rights under this chapter. Any employee who has been discharged or discriminated against shall have a civil action for damages against his employer.”
In 2014 the Missouri Supreme Court helped injured workers when it handed down the decision in Tempelmire v. W & M Welding. This decision makes it much easier for an employer to be sued if thy violate your workers' Comp rights.
